"Restoring Our Nations Heritage"
Company Information
Artika ornamental plasterers are one of the leading companies in the restoration and conservation of plasterwork in historic and listed buildings. The Company is headed by Mark Furber whos
lifetime of experiences in restoration and renovation has earnt him the title of Master in the field of plaster. We are fully versed in all aspects of the Plasterers craft, and have been
involved in the restoration of many historic buildings throughout Great Britain and in several overseas locations.
We offer a consultancy service and cover all aspects of ornamental and traditional lime plastering from design through to installation, and we are specialists in the reproduction and reinstatement of existing plasterwork.
Ornamental Ceilings
We can manufacture decorative ceilings from any given design be it new bespoke work or the reproduction of an existing period ceiling from any historical era.

If you have an existing period ceiling in need of renovation, our skilled craftsmen can reinstate it to its former glory using traditional methods and materials.
Over the years we have reinstated a number of important decorative ceilings including early strapwork, Jacobean and Adam styles.
Cornices, Ceiling Roses, corbels, archways etc.
We carry a large range of stock moulds covering many architectural periods but a large part of our time is taken up reproducing mouldings to match existing plasterwork. From just a small piece of the original cornice we can re-create an exact copy to the required length needed.
Some restoration projects call for the cornice or other mouldings to be run in situ using slaked lime, hair and sand this is a more expensive and time consuming process but some excellent results

can be achieved, once the cornice has been run enrichments such as acanthus leaves, egg and dart and dentals can be added where required.
Archways are made to order, we have found that due to different heights and wall thickness a "one size fits all" approach does not achieve a satisfactory result.
Overseas Contracts
Over the years Artika has been involved in many overseas contracts in Europe, eastern Europe and the USA the latest being in Transylvania in Romania. This project was set up

through the Mihai Eminescu Trust.
The Trust concentrates on the Saxon villages of Transylvania, a special case because of the age and richness of their culture and the problem caused by the mass emigration of the Saxon inhabitants to Germany in 1990 during repatriation. These isolated villages
are constructed of a central fortified church surrounded by farmers houses and barns, much of which is unchanged since the Middle Ages. Because of the migration many of the skills and technics acquired through the ages were lost and the villages began to fall
into disrepair. The project entailed teaching the remaining inhabitants how to restore their buildings using local traditional materials of lime and sand.
